Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. It uses your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), the same class of randomness used for real cryptographic keys — not Math.random(), which is not safe for generating passwords.
No. Every password is generated entirely inside your browser. Nothing is transmitted to a server, logged, or stored — closing or refreshing the page discards it completely.
Length matters more than complexity — a longer password with a mix of character types is exponentially harder to guess than a short, complex one. Aim for at least 12-16 characters using a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols.
Turning this on removes characters that are easy to misread or mistype, like 0/O and 1/l/I — useful if you'll be typing the password by hand rather than copying and pasting it.
Exact counts give you precise control — for example, you can require exactly 2 symbols instead of getting anywhere from zero to several purely by chance. The characters are still placed in random positions using cryptographically secure randomness, only the quantity of each type is fixed.
